Meles has ridiculed all those who embarked on a peaceful transformation of Ethiopia. He had frequently uttered carelessly: “If you consider yourself a man, go to the bush and fight for freedom like one.” And to those who warned his resistance to a peaceful negotiation may encourage an armed struggle against his dictatorial leadership, he always responded by saying: “mengedun tcherq yargilachew” – which means “I wish you an easy ride."Sarcastically addressed by some as the Prime Minister, Meles has been looking down on those who opted out for a peaceful resistance of the evil regime. While charging those who embarked on a peaceful challenge to his dictatorial leadership with treason, he offered the OLF, who has been engaged in the armed struggle unconditional negotiation for a peaceful settlement of their differences. Meles always respected those who picked up arms for he knew only an armed uprising will tear down his tyrannical regime. Hundreds of thousands who accepted his apartheid constitution and participated in the May 2005 election are all in jail. |
